Climbing Camp

Ability level – These  camps are designed for a wide range of abilities because the tough stuff will be ridden individually! As long as you have experience of riding in a group and want to improve your fitness you’ll be fine. They are not intended for complete beginners.

We are hosting three special training weeks with the focus on climbing to improve performance. They are intended to be a block of quality structured training, concentrating on intervals ridden at your own pace, ideal preparation for upcoming races or sportives. It will also give you the opportunity to practice your descending skills and experience riding long climbs if you haven’t already done so. As well as improved fitness, we hope you will return home with some new ideas for training and/or racing.

Each day we will ride out to a climb, complete the efforts and ride back to the hotel. Once on the climb you can ride at your own pace and push it as hard as you want! You can do two or three repetitions depending on which climb we are using. The ride out and back will be steady and ridden together as a warm up and warm down.

We will cover 80-120km’s each day and the climbs we use are 6-8km’s long. We will not be doing big loops and massive miles, this is aimed at completing specific, quality efforts on the climbs then returning to the hotel to put your feet up and recover for the next day! James will be riding with you each day to offer help and advice.

There will be a support vehicle with food & drink and spare wheels & tools. You can also leave spare clothing in the car to change into. Once we are on the climb the car will be based at the summit.

We will stop for a coffee and some lunch on the run back to the hotel, after we have finished climbing.

This training week is intended for riders with a good level of fitness and want to build on it with a quality block of training. We will suggest how to ride the climbs in terms of intensity and the duration of each effort. However if you have your own plan you are free to ride the climbs as you like, after all it will be an individual effort not dictated by the group.

Saturday: Arrive ~ Welcome meeting ~ Get set up with bikes ~ Short ride
Sunday: Depart hotel at 10am for a guided ride ~ Afternoon to relax
Monday: Depart hotel at 10am for a guided ride ~ Afternoon to relax
Tuesday: Depart hotel at 10am for a spin to a café ~ Arrive back 1pm ~ Afternoon to relax
Wednesday: Depart hotel at 10am for a guided ride ~ Afternoon to relax
Thursday: Depart hotel at 10am for a guided ride ~ Afternoon to relax
Friday: Optional spin on the bike depending on your flight time ~ Depart for airport

Prices

Package price – £595 per person
Single room supplement – £180
Airport transfer from Alicante with / without bike – £75 / £55
Carbon Bike hire – 150 euros (payable on arrival, price includes damage insurance)
